| Our client requires an Engineer in Charge for the marine surveying business. Essential Skills *At least 2 years experience of working within an engineering environment *Board level fault finding *Ability to produce fault reports *Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally *General PC skills *The ability to start and stop recording survey lines. *Ability to keep accurate survey logs. *Able to manage survey data correctly, labelling rolls and ensuring data files are stored correctly etc. *Able to safely assist in launch and recovery of survey equipment *Compliance with Company Lifting Procedures *Full understanding of principles involved in sub bottom profiling, single beam echo sounders, side scan sonar, seismic surveying winches and USBL tracking. *Ability to configure and tune all geophysical equipment *Ability to perform routine maintenance including re-terminations of underwater cables, changing streamer sections streamer balancing and patching etc. etc. *Manpower Management, the ability to lead or direct a team *Thorough understanding of the Company QHSE systems *Ability to manage consumables levels by using the Utec stores request and consumables database systems. *Ability manage the vessel defect reporting and logging systems so that equipment faults are reported to the office in a timely manner. *Ability to manage the EIC checklists, ensuring equipment is mobilised, operated and demobilised in a professional and cost effective manner. *Is able to take overall responsibility for onboard equipment tracking ensuring the technical department is informed of all equipment and consumables going on or off the vessel. *Has an understanding of the commercial impact of engineering issues *Ability to pass on gained knowledge to trainee and junior engineers. *Basic understanding of networking principals *Ability to administer network client computers *Full understanding of multi-beam bathymetry principals. *Thorough understanding of hydrographic surveying, including geodesy. Desirable Skills *Component level fault finding *Experience of data acquisition systems *Experience of network administration *Knowledge of the survey industry *Knowledge of sonar, seismic, or radar systems & principals *Basic programming skills *Basic understanding of networking principals. |
