Job Description

Production Manager Thetford Salary: Circa GBP35,000

Production Manager - Role

The Production Manager is responsible for the effective planning of resources including labour to meet the needs of the business by achieving completion of the works orders in a timely manner whilst maximising the profit opportunity for the business within business parameters.

Production Manager - Summary of main tasks

• Take full responsibility for the control of the packing lines, the processing areas, the team members of the lines and all aspects regarding the running of the lines

• Through good communications and a positive attitude foster a high level of team moral

• Maximise the output from all areas in order that the packing area can meet the current departments KPIs

• Implement a plan of cross training against specific work instructions such that the shift has demonstratable flexibility

• Organize the writing and implement work instructions and SOPs across areas of responsibility

• Audit accuracy of the paperwork and deal with any failings

• Enforce the correct filling in of the traceability paperwork in all areas

• Organize Risk Assessments and safety audits for all pieces of equipment in use

• Ensure all areas make to the correct specification

• Implement an OEE and Labour Recovery measuring system as directed by the Manufacturing Manager through his Team Leaders

• Ensure all working areas operate to a measured level of housekeeping and follow 5S best practice

• Manage the relationship with Engineering and QA to resolve issues and reduce downtime

• Implement a series of hand-over processes for each working area

• Ensure his department works with the warehouse department to ensure that stock is requested to each line in adequate time in the correct manner to ensure that the stock system is kept accurate and up to date

• Ensure that the Team Leaders collate the downtime records and make entries on the company OEE reporting system

• Ensure that the Halls are kept clean and tidy throughout the course of each shift by regular inspections and ensuring that the Team Leaders control the change-overs accurately and direct their teams to keep the individual lines tidy

• Manage the company ACP to ensure absences and poor performance are dealt with in a fair manner

Production Manager - Knowledge, skills and experience

The Production Manager must be a Professional Leader of a Team capable of showing direction to the rest of his team. He must have strong organisational skills and be a good communicator. The following attributes are key:

• Production packing sheets

• Production data entry documents

• Appropriate technical sheets

• Health and Safety

• Company handbook

• Working knowledge of the equipment in the packing hall
