To lead and coordinate the Underwriting response to all Delegated Authority relationships within Personal Lines Intermediary in order to maximise profitability.
The role
• Lead the Governance of and adherence to Underwriting Standards and Principles within the Delegated Authority relationships to ensure all risks are managed appropriately.
• Lead and deliver robust controls and profit measures/drivers, taking into account market developments to maximise profit.
• Manage, motivate, develop, counsel and appraise team members so that their individual and collective performance is of the required standard and meets the current and future needs of the business.
• Contribute to the preparation of the Personal Lines Intermediary area annual and medium term strategy and plans ensuring these are consistent with Group policy and business requirement.
• Undertake the Planning for the MGA and DA channel within Personal Lines Intermediary ensuring this links in with the overall PLI Plan.
• Coordinate the Actuarial response to MGA and DA business ensuring timely, accurate reporting of result.
• Deliver for the Underwriting result of Warranty, Travel and Miscellaneous business and MGA Household, ensuring planned levels of Loss Ratio are achieved.
• Be accountable for the Audit strategy for PLI underwriting to ensure visibility of Underwriting principles.
• Measurement and reporting of position of all PLI DA business against 3RM risk profile, Underwriting Principles and TCF measures.
• Manage the budget of Underwriting team.
Skills, knowledge and behaviour
• Excellent knowledge of Delegated Authority Business.
• Knowledge of Personal Lines Distribution.
• Good governance skills, project management experience.
• Experience of Planning and managing budgets.
• Proven Underwriting experience at a senior level.
• ACII qualified or Degree level or equivalent, preferable.
