An unusual opportunity has arisen with our Ipswich client. They are looking for a bright individual to train as a Probate Researcher. The role is a fascinating one that combines the thrill of the TV Series which traces celebrity ancestors with the kind of sharp brain that enjoys chess rather than draughts, cryptic crosswords rather simple ones. The role requires tenacity, an analytical outlook and the ability to draw accurate conclusions. You will manage a portfolio of cases and be able to delegate some of the less demanding tasks to assistants while retaining a compartmentalised approach which will enable you to quickly and accurately review details supplied by your assistants and apply them to the relevant case. Full training into the actual research methodology will be given but the right mental attitude and toughness must be demonstrated from the outset.
So, what are you likely to be doing now? Well transferable skills will potentially be found in individuals who are currently in a negotiating and facilitating role, especially someone used to working on the telephone. You may be from the legal profession (including a solicitor) or in some way involved in a tracing role debt collection, insolvency practise, land registry work or journalism. Equally you may be involved in estate agency management or management in a financial environment.
You will be well educated almost certainly to degree level and want to earn a base salary in the range £25-35,000 per annum at the outset rising, with experience, to £45-60,000. Quirky opportunity for a special kind of quirky person.
